Land Use / Management Changes

Over 10km of grips were blocked in the headwaters prior to the installation of the instrumentation (2004/05) and stock was excluded from 1999 to 2007, after which low level restocking started.

Trees have been planted in the riparian zones throughout the catchment and on the eastern hillslopes of Middle Knoll. Low stocking levels are being maintained in the headwaters (habitat regeneration). Stock is excluded from the eastern hill slopes of Middle Knoll and from the riparian zones where trees have been planted. There may be logging of old forested patches (pine) near Good Greave, but this is still under negotiation.

Channel Description

The channel cross-section at the instrument location is provided below. Datum is taken as the top of the diver access tube (red bar). Width is measured from the left-hand side bank when looking downstream, with locations to left of the diver tube taken as negative and those to the right positive.
